Closing Ceremony: We Expect Beijing Forum to Be an Annual Event
PKU News, Beijing, Aug 25th, 2004: the closing ceremony of Beijing Forum 2004: Harmony and Prosperity was held later today in Beijing International Convention Center.
Antecedent to the closing ceremony there was speeches session presided by Prof. Michael Osborne, Vice-president of La Trobe University, Australia. Prof. Ye Lang from Peking University and Mr. Chung-in Moon, chairman of the Presidential Committee on Northeast Asian Cooperation Initiative of Korea and Dr. Raymond Krommenacker, Regional Coordinator for Asia and Pacific Economies of World Trade Organization made their speeches respectively.
Lasted for 3 days and involving more than 400 scholars worldwide in areas ranging from politics, art, literature, history and communication, Beijing Forum 2004 is expected to establish a Beijing image in world academic field for its unique focus on harmonized civilization and peaceful globalization. Professor He Chuanfang, Vice-chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his delightfulness in hosting this event with world leading scholars and his further wishes of carrying this tradition to establish this forum as a annual event.
As the host of Beijing Forum 2004, Peking University intensively involved into this event with its scholars participating each of the sub-group discussion. It might be evident that through such cultural and academic event, Peking University can expect considerable image advancement.
