Peking University Welcomes Freshmen
Peking University, Beijing, Sep 1st, 2004: The opening ceremony for the freshmen of 2004 was held in the Centennial Auditorium this morning. More than three thousand students experienced such an exciting moment.
The ceremony began in the national hymn. The vice president of PKU Lin Junjing presided the ceremony. Xu Zhihong, the president of PKU, delivered an address to congratulate the students and encourage them to climb up the higher stage of their life. Professor Wu Guosheng from the philosophy department of Peking University gave a speech in behalf of the whole faculty, he told the freshmen what was the right attitude in the new environment. His sincere words and earnest wishes expressed his hope to the new PKUers.
A senior student from the law school, who is representative of the students on campus, warmly welcomed the freshmen and advised them with her own experience. The freshmen deputy expressed his confidence of the future at the end of the ceremony.
The opening ceremony for the graduate freshmen will be held tomorrow.
